Birthday's, Valentines, Presidents Day, Good Times

The past few weeks have been very eventful in our home. On February 6th Lynzi celebrated her 15th birthday. Her birthday was on a Sunday so on Saturday we took her and Dustin to Pizzeria and then to Boondocks. We had a great time. We then had dinner on Sunday the 6th with Grandma and Grandpa Montgomery. Her birthday was also on the superbowl so we ended up watching that after dinner. We then headed down to get her permit. She passed the test on the first try and now she can legally drive. I know it is hard to believe, but it is true. Happy 15th Lynzi!!!





On February 8th Dad turned 83. We went down to Mom and Dad's house for dinner and a birthday celebration. We really had a good time. It was fun to hear Dad tell stories and for those that came to just spend some good quality time together. Happy Birthday Dad and we hope there are many more birthdays to come!



We had our 3rd annual young women recognition dinner on February 10th. I was given the assignment to cook the chicken and the rolls. It turned out really nice. Willow's son in law and daughter sang and talked. We have had a steady increase of girls getting their award so that is great news.

We decided to have a Valentine Progressive Dinner. We ended up having 46 people come. It was on a Monday night so we thought that we wouldn't get too many. I was amazed at all the people and we had a great time. So much food though. We had appetizers at our house, then we went to Ali and Jesse's for salad, to Jeff and Natalie's for the main dish and to Travis and Lori's for dessert. I sent Brian Valentines 1 every hour throughout the day. Teri was so nice to deliver them to him. I am going to miss Teri and Brad when they move to St. George but I am happy that Brad got a job so Teri can be home to be mom!

Karlee ran once again at the Simplot Games. She has had a bad bad cold so her running was off on the preliminary's. She did make it to the finals and ended up taken 2nd (just barely) in her heat and 11th overall. Congrats Karlee. Karlee has also had exciting news. She got asked to the prom by Ryan Moser and she is very excited. She also got nominated to be prom royalty. We have found a dress for her to wear and she looks absolutely beautiful.


Allyson had her GOLDEN birthday this year. She turned 19 on the 19th. So we have been seeing gold! She came home and it was so nice to see her. Brian and I both say that she adds a lot of life to our home. We took her on a golden treasure hunt. She ran the mile at Weber State and took 2nd place. We went to a movie and then had a Golden Dinner on Sunday. One thing that Ally got is something that she says she has been missing out on in life and that is a set of God Parents. Scott and Heidi Hansen. Scott even drew up a legal document. Ally asked them to be her God parents, she is a NUT!


Yesterday was Presidents day. We went snowmobiling. We had a BIG storm on Sunday we got about 2 feet so the snow was beautiful and it had been a long time since I had snowmobiled. It was a blast! Thanks Dad, for letting us use your snowmobiles.



February has been a busy month. On top of all that I have written about...Brian and I went to the Timpanogas temple. We are going to go to all the temples in Utah this year. We had two very sad funerals both for babies that were still born. I have been having marathon young women meetings for Stake Girls Camp. We had stake conference. We learned how to work on our marriages. President Kimball's formula for a happy marriage is to 1. Be compatable 2. Be unselfish 3. Spend quality time. 4. Keep the commandments. We also learned how to feel the spirit and to invite the spirit into our lives. President Taggart spoke on the sermon on the mount and he advised us to stop being angry! Our stake goals are to develop Christlike attributes. Good thing to work on always! We had a high priest party this month and a Ragnar meeting. It looks like I am running this race for sure. I need a bit of luck!

January 25-February 5

January 25th...we had a young women meeting and planned girls camp.
January 26th...went to work and then the young women came over to our house for young women, it was fun.
January 27th...I cleaned house and went cross country skiing with Heidi Hansen. Brian was out of town in Wyoming.
January 28th...We got two dressers from Mom to organize and help Karlee and Dustin keep their rooms clean. We will cross our fingers on that one.
January 29th...We went to Pocatello and watched Allyson run at Simplot. She ran the mile and took 4th place. She did a great job. We went to the Hogges house for a Bunco party at night. It was fun to see them, the Clark's, the Argyle's, the Summer's, and the Dickson's.
January 30th...we had church and then family home evening at Ronda and Dave's. The lesson was on extended family relationships. We got the name of someone in our family that we need to get to know better this year and then we will have their name for Christmas. I got Shawna, Brian got Eric, Allyson got Tasha, Karlee got Ryan Nay, Lynzi got Heidi, and Dustin got Rylee. It will be fun to think of them all year.
January 31st...I went shopping for Lynzi's birthday. We played games as a family after dinner.
February 1st...Karlee had an SEOP and she got her schedule for Senior year planned . I can't believe that she will be a senior next year. Time goes too fast!
February 2nd...Groundhog Day and the groundhog didn't see his shadow so bring spring on NOW!! I worked and then came home and watched TV while the kids and Brian went to young men/young women.
February 3rd...Dustin and Karlee stayed home sick. I made a birthday banner for Lynzi's birthday and decided to make something fun for everybody's birthday this year.
February 4th...Went to the Mr. Weber assembly at Weber High. Parker Hansen is in the running and he did a great job. The kids loved the evening wear competition where he came out in a trench coat and then took it off and underneath he had his missionary clothes and nametag on. It was pretty cool to see him get a standing ovation for that.
February 5th...Today we are celbrating Lynzi Lou's birthday. We are going to lunch and then to Boondocks. Karlee is going to the Valentines dance with Jake Speth.

Day 30...Hopes, Dreams, Plans for the Next 365 days

My hopes are that we can be healthy and happy and safe this coming year. I also hope that Brian's work will go well. My dreams are that we can go on a great family vacation, that I can get into great shape and lose the weight that I want to. My plans are to run in the Ragnar race in Washington, to plan stake girls camp, and to decorate my house after the remodel.

Day 29... My testimony

I do have a testimony of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that it is true. I know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves me. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and I am so thankful for His atoning sacrifice so that I may be able to live with him again someday. I am thankful for Joseph Smith, for his integrity and for restoring the gospel to the earth. I know that he is a prophet and that President Monson is our prophet today. I know that if we listen to him we will be safe and on the right path. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. I am thankful that I have had the gospel my whole life and I feel truly blessed!

Day 28 A Secret that I have that I want to get out.

I am having a hard time thinking of a secret that I have. I am excited about a speaker that we have coming to stake girls camp in Heber Valley. Her name is Kris Belcher. I heard her at time out for women and loved hearing her story and feeling her spirit. I think the girls in our stake are in for a real treat!

Day 27...A person I love

I have to say that I love Brian. For the past 22 years Brian has been my best friend, listening ear, great provider, hard worker, fun to do things with, makes me laugh, co-parent, hubby, vacation planner...really he has been my everything and I love him a TON!

Day 26...A child (children) I love.

I really do love all children. They are so innocent and fun to watch and listen to. But there are four children that I especially love and they are Allyson, Karlee, Lynzi, and Dustin. These four kids are so much fun. They bring joy and excitement to my life and I love them very much!

Day 25...A place I love

One of my favorite places in the world is Jackson Lake. We have gone there every year for as long as I can remember. I love the Tetons, the freezing cold lake, the rocky beach, going on a boat ride to Mt. Moran, the campgrounds, the showers at Colter Bay, I like going into Jackson and seeing the play at Jackson Hole Playhouse, I like hiking to hidden falls, I like time around the campfire with family. I could go on and on about the many great memories at Jackson!
