Halloween Party

Some of our friends just threw the funnest party. It all started out with a knock and run invitation that said:

Mr. and Mrs. Deeter
You are invited to a Halloween Party
Come dresses up and don't be tardy!

Most details are a mystery.
All but the date and time you see.
Friday October 22nd - 6:30 pm

I know cute huh? That really got my curiosity going. We waited a few days and then we got this e-mail.

Something wicked this way comes

Clues yet to follow will reveal the deed.

The spooktacular day is approaching fast,
The roll of the die and you'll be cast
with another couple, you'll be on your way
to follow the clues and keep the ghouls at bay.

On Thursday a clue will be sent by e-mail
now that you've given your Yay it's too late to bail.
No need to feel impending doom...
Just secure a sitter, and oh, the costume!

You may be asking when does this party end?
We're guessing you'll be home around 10:00 p.m.

So then, while Brian was at bishopbric meeting and I was at Stake Auxiliary Meeting, we got a knock at the door. Dustin answered the door and there was a guy with a mask and a chainsaw. He said hey buddy and handed him a brown paper bag with a note on it. Dustin just grabbed the note and slammed the door in his face. He said it really freaked him out.

The note told us which couple we would be paired with and to make driving arrangements to go together. We were paired with Travis and Lori Hogge. They picked us up and we each had a brown paper bag with our 1st clue in it.

Stand by the stop sign at the corner of the four way stop.
Somebody with a cell phone needs to take a picture of as many in your group as possible.
Show your picture to the clerk working in the store listed above and tell them you are on Scavenger Hunt #1 to get your next clue.

Clue #2:
This clue sent us to the fire station where we bobbed for an apple. Brian did this and his head went way under it was funny!

Adam and Eve were forbidden to __________________ the fruit in the Garden ___ ________.

What are you doing there?
A treat inside will cost you a dollar. Share with your partner so you don't ruin your appetite.
Tell the clerk you are on Scavenger Hunt #1 you will then get your next clue.

If you want me to come home, tie a yellow ribbon around __________

What are you doing there?
Walk through the door and say Trick or Treat
You will receive a sample. Eat it, taste it, savor it...what flavor is is?
Don't even try looking at the sign or Hell will definitely freeze over.
Once you have correctly identified the flavor to the server. Tell them you are on Scavenger Hunt #1. she/he will give you your next clue.
We had to taste ice cream and guess what flavor it was.

Clue #5
This sent us to Valley Market where we needed to find the mystery meat. We took the mystery meat to the front to get our next clue.
(We had to find a can of spam and then take it to the front.)

Kick the bucket, pushing up daisies, worm food, sell the farm, I got me a plot in Huntsville.
I'd definitely watch my back if I were you.

What are you doing there?
Park your car and walk through the man gate on the south side.
Take your flashlight, paper, & pen and look for the headstone of
Ramus Jensen and Anna Marie
Here's a little hint. It is on the right side of the road and has two arches.
Fill in the blanks for the address of your final destination.

We had a hard time finding the headstone in the dark but eventually we found it.

This sent us to Jesse and Ali Hammons Home where we met our hosts for the night.
The Posts and the Hammons threw the party and it was a blast. I was so impressed with all the work that they went to. I thought I should write it down for future party throwing.
